In order to export comments on a file or files, files need to be added into a package first. The comments will be exported as a report in a form of a CSV document.
Only Standard users, with the permission to view package reports on their account, and Admins have access to export the comments report.
Here are few simple steps on how to export comments:
step 1 |
 |
- Select a file or files which contain the comments you'd like to export and add these files into a new package. In the example on the left, I have my package open with all the files containing the comments that I need to export.
OR
- You can also select and then open an existing package that contains the files with comments you'd like to export.
|
step 2 |
 |
- With your package open, click on the Export Report button located on the panel to the right of the page.
- If you do not see this icon, you do not have permission to export reports.
|
step 3 |
 |
- A Reports menu will open up on the right side of the page listing all the different types of reports you can export from the system.
- To export the comments, click on Asset List with Comments option, and the report export will begin.
- Depending on the size of the package and the amount of comments associated the report could take a few minutes to generate.
|
step 4 |
 |
- Your report will be exported into a default Download location set on your computer.
- Example on the left shows what this report looks like. Report exported as a CSV file: csv_asset_list_with_comments.csv
- Asset List with Comments report will show all the comments for each asset in the package. It shows the commenter as well as the time/date stamp of the comment and who the comment was in reply to if applicable.
And you're done!
